This is a bit of an oldie but a goodie nonetheless.
On the face of it, a standard depiction of an English schoolgirl getting a hard caning across her bottom. None of the silly fantasy stuff about clothing being removed - this is how it could have been. Her persistent lateness means she has to bend over the gym horse and receive a classic 'six of the best' across her skin-tight school trousers. The headmaster doesn't appear to be holding back at all, and this is probably a fair reflection of how hard a real school caning would have been. The model is the always brilliant Nicky Montford, who had a reputation for complaining on shoots if the person administering the punishment didn't do it hard enough. Nevertheless, as she follows his instruction to count out the strokes, you can hear the indifference in her voice - perhaps even contempt - as she is determined not to acknowledge that the caning is bothering her at all, even if that risks driving him to cane even harder.

Why yes, brilliantly put, James. I do so love analyzing the Janus Magazine Readers' Letters from the late1970s/early 80s, although fantasy stories of bare bottom canings at school do spoil the research unfortunately !
However, at home it was very different back then, & alas, her trousers & panties would probably be taken down to her knees (sadly) for the cane on the bare, orthodox surface. No need for protective coverings. Indeed, knickers down to knees, is the only way my sister & I gotten the cane from mom, growing up in the 1960s & 70s. Oh my!! It STINGS ! Sure whipped us into shape.
That was the routine punishment in our house. The cane on a "bare botty". Simple and Spartan !! It made perfect sense. And it was deemed normal & necessary for daughters at home. Protest were futile. And no one thought any different within social circles. Quite right too, James ! No wishy -washy nonsense. Harsh but harmless.
Through her traditional, Ol' fashioned Church-lens, mom said her canings were "kind". She was right in her redoubtable fashion, although I did rebrand it to "ferocious kindness" :-)

Does it seem that many of the strokes were high (very high) on her buttocks, while others concentrated on her left buttock. Few seemed to be across her entire bottom from the fullest part down to the tops of her thighs -- where I would have thought they would be concentrated (always were for me).
