Question - if you went to a school where any sort of classroom punishment was used but especially if corporal punishment was employed, how did you react when someone else was in trouble? There are frequent references in anti-CP writing to how children are traumatised by seeing someone else get punished. In this image from an adult site a number of the girls are looking scared, distressed, revulsed or disturbed.
I can't say I ever experienced that reaction - quite the reverse. For me, it was the highlight of the day! I don't think that was just me being an uncaring b*****d (perhaps it was!) but if was definitely something more than simple schadenfreude. And it wasn't very different if I saw someone being sent to the headmaster for punishment - although we wouldn't get to witness the actual act we knew it would be more severe than we ever did see in the classroom and that made up for the lack of spectacle. Having no brothers or sisters I can't really imagine whether I would have reacted similarly in a domestic situation.

I can't say I felt traumatised, just relieved it wasn't me. I reckon most of my classmates would have felt the same, though some might have had a smirk on their faces. That wasn't a clever thing to do in my school because if the teacher spotted you, you'd be called out for a dose of the same. This picture is probably a still from a video. The bare-bottomed spanking of a pupil by a teacher in front of her classmates lies in the realms of fantasy, I reckon rather than reality. Still good though.
Yeah - there seem to be a few US based websites that like to do classroom scenes with a number of other schoolgirls (and sometimes boys) witnessing a punishment. They never look remotely authentic but can be quite good fun all the same. There's often, as in this case, quite a number of participants and you wonder if all of them were punished at some point during the session.
As for my experiences, I don't think our teachers would have punished anyone for smirking - it added to the humiliation of the person they were punishing. I would guess that 90% plus of the class enjoyed such moments.
I witnessed many slipperings in class. We all watched. But it was always the boys never the girls (with one exception, which I think I've mentioned a while ago). No equality of the sexes in those days, more's the pity.
I have witnessed many canings and slipperings as well as experiencing them. I can't say I was ever traumatised by them since they were a fact of life. Kids got punished in much as the same way as kids got praised. It's hard for modern day zealots to understand just how ordinary it was and how very unremarkable if one got it. A stinging bum was ... a stinging bum and not a subject for hysteria. I did, however, witness the headmaster of one of my junior schools (long story as to why) soaping the mouths of two brothers. It was a horribly brutal thing to watch and that DID traumatise me and I have never forgotten it. I also saw male teacher pull a girl aged 9 or 10 over his knee and spank her over her underwear. That too has stuck with me because I felt at the time it was nasty and unnecessary. In the real world I would not wish the events in the photo to happen. In fantasy... well why not.

I was mesmerized James - and bare red princess bottoms were a regular fact of life growing up in the South, both at home & in public...but not at school.
School spankings were not on bare buttocks. That was fantasy. But 99% of daughters gotten their bare bottoms smacked at home by mom n pop. This was Georgia in the 1960s. Ok James...it was more like 90% !
Strictmoor Academy is so authentic that it reminds me of my childhood spankings in a strict, loving religious home. The school mansion translates to my 1960s living room with our strict, spanker mom. Likewise the Janus & Roue magazines of the 1970s also translated to my CP at home. Moreover, British girls gotten to feel the sting of the plimosll or cane across their bare botties in traditional homes in the 1950s- 1990s in the UK. Quite right too in my opinion. I was beyond intrigued by the Readers' Letters in Janus & Roue where bare bottom canings, slipperings & spankings were evidenced by moms (re their own CP & then chastising their recalcitrant daughters currently)
So, in school, spankings (1960s/70s) with the paddles were on clothed backsides....but at home for my sister & me, y'all panties came gotten pulled down for punishment on bare skin. This is necessary too ! (indeed, my own two now-grown-up daughters will ruefully recall their own bare bot visits from my trusty cane as young girls in the 80s/90s !)
In childhood, I was mesmerized when my girlfriends gotten their shorts n panties tugged down for a bare botty blistering from their moms in the park, or the mall, or the parking lot. Oh my! This was so common. Bare, red, well-smacked bottoms were just normal & necessary, par for the course. I was especially compelled to see my African American girlfriends have their dresses hoisted & their knicks pulled down for a whuppin' on their tender bare botty skins by their gorgeous, yet super strict moms ! Again, it was a fact of life for y'all daughters. Oh my!
Likewise, in local homes in our suburb, I saw my girlfriends have their bare backsides skelped with pop or mom's strap, paddle or the cane.
Surprisingly, our mom did not bare our bums for a smacking in public, she was very conservative & believed we should be punished in private. She would give is a few sharp slaps on our bare legs in the park (wearing shorts or dresses)
I was fascinated how mom would raise my dress a lil' (exposing my white 1950s cotton panties slightly) & slap my bare skin below my buttocks (thighs) but she did not pulled down my panties to smack my bare behind properly. However, alas, when we gotten home from the park, mom fetched the botty smacker cane, then raised my dress fully onto my back, pulled my panties down to my knees for a good bare-bot-whipping ! Oh my! Proper punishment at last !
Mother used to say scary things to me & my sister, in front of other moms & friends ...."I'm sure not gonna smack the seat of your shorts with my hand in the park, when I can wait to smack your bare bottom with my cane at home!"

I am a young 66 in the new year, James (ha-ha! Southern belle, already). And I am now an observer (albeit with wise, Ol' fashioned guidance !!!) at my daughters' houses nearby. My girls (late 30s) are strict, loving moms, & it is definitely a case of well, " like mother like daughter".- typically Southern, James !! My daughters & their own girls attend Church and don't spare the rod is the mantra , for sure.
So yes, if my granddaughters are very naughty, then the feared & faithful "botty smacker" is fetched from the cupboard by mom, a pretty dress is raised, & a lil' pair of panties are taken down to their knees, so that a chubby, bare, white sit-upon can get a quick, short, sharp visit from the cane. It stings James. That is the punishment. Harmless yet salutary. And I have yet to see my daughters introduce naughty steps ?! Lots of crying...and the slate is clean. It's just normal, necessary discipline - same as it ever was !
