As a kid I must have trawled dozens and dozens of children's stories and comics in the hope of finding a spanking story. Weeks of frustration would just occasionally reveal a nugget and make the tedium worthwhile. A relatively common source was the cartoon strip based around Billy Bunter.
Now, while seeing "the fat owl of the remove" being chased by a cane wielding headmaster was not especially erotic in itself, the act that was being threatened (yikes!) or actually carried out (yaroo!) held it's own fascination. I have a very vivid recollection on one such scene where Bunter fell into a stream head-first and someone whacked his backside with the oar taken from a handy rowing boat. For many years I've wondered about the effectiveness of such a tool - rather unwieldy to use and spreading the impact over a large area but, on the other hand, quite long so good leverage. This week's favourite brought all those memories back.

Bessie Bunter??? Really??? At least in the Billy Bunter stories the cane was wielded a lot - I would have preferred the canings to be directed towards a better target but I don't recall any such events in the Bessie Bunter stories that I saw.

Like your good self, I also used to love my comics & I gotten to study them in search of hopeful spankings. My younger sister did the same with my hand-me-downs & her own weekly comics. Corporal punishment was a routine part of family life for us & our peers in early 1960s Atlanta, so spankings in comics were also normal. Our religious parents approved of our comics: everything was conservative, bubblegum cute & super strict.
But why did Bunter & other cartoon folks gotten the cane or spanked over clothes >? When me and lil' sister gotten our whoopings (with the flexi-thin, rattan cane: the "switch") on sensitive bare skin with our shorts & panties duly pulled down to our knees !!! What a shock. Oh my! That was the punishment. Two chubby, bare princess botties were most common in or house for our bath times & our spankings!!! Oh my!
Sister & me gotten to ask our mom this paradox, this discrepancy a bunch. In comics, naughty daughters gotten smacked over their cute 1950s shorts, whereas we always gotten smacked on a bare botty without hesitation or debate. And always with mother's terrible but hamless, switchy-cane too !! Our mom gave us no quarter - "a good switchin' is the punishment" she said in her spartan, no-nonsense manner. Our panties never misbehaved !!!
Mom's fierce, Church-approved approach with that "rod", aka "Biblical switch", sure did me good, James. I subsequently raised my two young girls (born 1980s) the same with corporal punishment; with that same quality, whippy lil' rattan switch kept in the cupboard: and not like the comics for them either. They gotten it good n sound with dresses raised & knickers down on their tender, bare bots, same as myself as a child.
It sure is funny that after my childhood, I kept my interest in comics as a student in the 1970s, and then naturally discovered adult spanking magazines like Janus & Roue (& later on, Blushes)....sort of comics with spanking, eh James ?! And this time the cane was applied to daughters' bare bottoms, in the real, factual way. So for me, Janus was realistic & comics were unrealistic regarding my childhood discipline. And the same authentic contexts apply to Strictmoor Academy & Sarah Gregory's mother/daughter scenarios today from my factual perspective.
Back in the 1970s, I always loved the spanking art, both colour & black n white sketches. Again, they were factual & realistic & viscerally reminded me of mom tanning our bare botties with the cane at home. I especially remember a real, fantastic favourite called,
"Mandy" & chastisement from Roue magazine's Spankers Gallery in the summer of 1984 (a later drawing compared to early Roue material)
This wonderful story & picture, featured a naughty granddaughter, Mandy, bare bottomed over Grandpa's knee, receiving the appropriate, normal, parental medicine that all girls duly gotten in yore (Thank the Lord) in the USA, UK & Europe at that pre-PC time, James. It was a colourful, realistic drawing & her chubby, red botty & uncomfortable princess-brat grimace sure took me back a few years to myself & sister growing up strictly, normally & happily in our Christian household the 1960s.
At age 61 already, everything is vintage nostalgia for me, James :-)
