First of all, let me wish all readers a very Happy New Year - especially the likes of Old Tom and Targetarear who go to so much trouble to provide feedback and comment.
Then on to business!
I love the classical honesty and simplicity of this image. It does look about as close as it gets to how a schoolgirl might have looked bending over a desk to be caned across her bottom - no ridiculously short miniskirt (although nowadays it would probably be considerably shorter than this as fashion dictates), no stiletto heels, no unrealistic pigtails and no "adjustment" of her attire. Okay, I like it as much as anyone when we are shown an attractive girl getting it across her panties or her bare bottom, but there is something about this that suggest rather more authenticity. Obviously it was pretty unusual for girls to get caned across their bottoms (sadly) in the days when corporal punishment was used in British schools, but it wasn't something that never happened and it would most probably have looked something like this on those precious few occasions. And anyone who thinks that because she has her knickers and a pleated skirt for protection, it's not going to be very effective and painful has clearly never been on the wrong end of a properly delivered caning over their normal attire.

Now on to the wonderful photograph. Sadly the feel of a cane hitting my young bottom was by no means an infrequent experience. That young lady's pleated skirt should offer more protection than a tightly drawn pair of trousers but she will discover that a good caning hurts (as it should) even over a couple of layers of clothing. I do know two women who were caned like that at school so it did happen if infrequently. Frankly I am unconvinced that today's protracted sanctions are somehow better than the smart of the cane. For a start they seem terribly time consuming to me as I observe from a distance. The speed with which a caning may be administered is far more cost efficient. Anyhow that young lady will smart but not as much as a boy would have...not with that pleated skirt. Equality fails even there.

I'd have to agree with you that the 'short sharp shock'approach applied with a cane or slipper when we were schoolboys did do the trick most of the time. It didn't alter the behaviour of the die hards, who would show off their marks as a sort of badge of honour, but it certainly kept the rest of us quiet (though I was on the receiving end of a size 12 plimsioll more than once).
Like you James, I like this picture for its authenticity and I only wish that the makers of spanking videos would come up with a few more videos that didn't feature bare-bottom canings of 'schoolgirls' wearing stockings and suspenders and high-heeled shoes (thoughlike you, I'm quite partial to those).
Sadly, that is even less likely now that our Government has decided to ban all home-made videos of this sort.
I was caned only twice at school, once on the hand (which hurt the most) and once on my bottom. But over the last couple of years I've been attending spanking parties where as well as spanking some very attractive young ladies, the men can also 'receive' from an expert with the dreaded rattan. I don't for one moment doubt that you are correct and that if I had published this photograph alongside one as you describe and asked people to vote for their favourite, your would have won hands down. However I think there are a significant number of people like myself and Targetarear who would like to see more realistic and credible depictions of schoolgirl punishments. Of course our stupid new government policy makes it difficult for anyone in the UK to make spanking porn these days so we're probably left to rely on those based elsewhere.

Like James, I like seeing the bare-bottom stuff too, but I also like to see the 'real thing' depicted now and again.
I believe that if spanking websites published a few 'realistic' videos (say one in every ten) they'd be surpirsed how many hits (oops! pardon the pun) those videos received.
And as I think I've mentioned in other comments on James' site, for those who like to see the young lady's knickers lowered, her bare bottom displayed and her marks shown, there can still be the trip to the washroom or wherever for that.
As an aside, there is one thing I dislike intensely about bare bottom cp videos and that is the way so many of them show the girls' intimate parts.

Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia 1960s, we gotten the paddle at school over clothes. My sister & me never actually gotten punished at school, but corporal punishment at home was harsh & routine: our mom was a strict, loving, Christian, God-fearing Southern mom who never spared the rod. The young moms were always talking about smacked bottoms & the church folk all seemed to be advocating it back in yore.
