Hi James, spankings were just par for the course when growing up in 1960s Georgia. And indeed 1960s America anywhere! My mother's stern, succinct response to my question about my panties staying in situ was quite marvellous (if not at the time!) and also appropriately dismissive to her naughty daughter. No wishy-washy approaches to spankings endured in our house. Chastisements for me as a child were with the cane & were always on my bare buttocks. Period. Quite right too!
I always liked to talk about spankings & the baring ritual & punishment protocol with my girlfriends in the 1960s. That was normal for y'all.
Everyone gotten spanked at home, so everyone talked about it with one another. Y'all thought nothing of it, James.
Oh my! The severe nature of my whoopings, combined with their utter safety & harmlessness, made them perfect for loving discipline at home - no naughty steps needed back then - and so I naturally raised my own two daughters (born 1980s) with the exact same punishment from a young age. Indeed, I always found that the baring process was a good admonishment in its own right...not least because the prospect of 12 strokes of the rod on a bare backside was an alarming proposition, best avoided! It was my pre-emptive threat for my girls to behave. That is the idea of a smacked bottom, the guarantee of a darn good spanking, once the rubicon gotten crossed!
I recall, when I was angry & gave my young daughters fair warnings, back in yore - "you're gonna get a spanking" or "I am so gonna smack your botties, if you do not behave, already!" then it always instilled a pure sense of fear. But without the cane, and without their panties pulled down & their bottoms totally bare, then the threat of my discipline carried no impact. That is why my mom always bared my backside for the rod, & why my girls always gotten the same cane on their bare bums from myself. Oh my! And moreover, did I mention that the cane on a bare botty stings like absolute Hell on earth!!
