Guide to this blog

The Blogroll is now in three parts. The main part is arranged according to the date the blog was last updated with the most recent first. Many blogs use the BDSMLR platform which does not include date information; they are in a separate Blogroll arranged alphabetically but I check from time to time and remove any that have been permanently closed. The final part is a list of interesting Twitter feeds - again in alphabetical order.

About this blog

In January 2007 this blog was born. I'd tried blogging a couple of times with very focussed themes but they didn't really get any traction, so I decided to just do anything and everything related to my fascination for CP. The blogging world has changed a lot in that time and I've enjoyed surveying other blogs that related to my interests. I've had an opportunity to publish a few series of related articles from CP furniture through to the Chinese scene. Then there came the Favourite of the Month feature. Plus an ever expanding blogroll. I branched out into Twitter at a point in the journey as well and I feel that through the blog and Twitter I've got to know some good friends.

Somehow, in 2022, in doesn't seem enough any more. I don't really know what the future holds. What I do know is that it won't include this blog. I just don't have the urge to express myself through this medium any more. I didn't want to be one of those bloggers that just suddenly disappears overnight and leaves everyone wondering why, although I can't really explain why I'm making this move. I have already left Twitter ('though probably nobody has noticed). The blog will continue a little while longer. The very final Favourite of the Month will be on the first of June. I'll continue posting in June as and when things occur to me. There will be no Favourite in July 2022 and no more posts. At the end of July or beginning of August I'll delete the blog for good.

So, it's the start of quite a long goodbye.

While I will miss you, I fully understand your decision to stop writing your blog. Please be so kind and review your intention to delete your entire blog (which is hosted for free). Even as they have still to pay, discontinued blogs like "mrsbirch", "msdanakane" and "voiceinthecorner" among countless other are still accessible.

That is a very great shame if understandable. I have thoroughly enjoyed visiting your posts and your absence will leave a hole. Very best wishes for whatever you decide to do.

Dear James, make no mistake, your awesome "Compendium of Spanking" is a significant stalwart of the CP canon!

Yup! But hey, the Twiterattis are moving to Tik Tok, already. So what ? Social media sands shift amidst transient waters, whereas your Blog is a foundation stone with unique permanence: a library of research & fact-based articles, if you will.

Your decision is sad & "unnecessary" ? You are too modest to acknowledge your own genius in your curations on this very site. Your Blog is rare, quirky & top quality, regarding both content & contexts. Oh my! And it is so very different to the "also rans" listed on your Blogroll!! Unique is a silly, over-used word, but there are VERY FEW spanking media entities like your Blog, James!

Remember James, the great Sarah Gregory will not be remembered for her twitter account, or for any other ephemeral social media; but for her superlative empire constructed around Strictmoor Academy, Momma Spankings etc. he same is true of your Blog, James. Oh my! Why yes, it will outlast (and has done, already!!) the fleeting moments of "scroll down n swipe left": those transient spanking references on smart phones, never to be recalled. Twitter is for 24 hours, your Blog is already 15 years' old, God darn it!!

Your wonderful Blog is concrete - a virtual building already (like the iconic Janus store of old ? But now even more lasting in the digital world!) It is a reference point for y'all to revisit, to saviour: your superb "Compendium of Spanking", James.
In summary: please reconsider, Kind Sir !!! :-)
Regards, big salutes, a bunch of jazz hands n Southern warmth, congratulations n cheerleader antics :-)

I'll be very sorry to see you go, James, but you must do what's right for you. It would be a shame to delete the blog, though.

Hugs,
Hermione

>>>>>>"I didn't want to be one of those bloggers that just suddenly disappears overnight and leaves everyone wondering why,"<<<<<<

I'm not sure if anyone does. When Red of Consensual Spanking had Google wipe out his blog without ever giving a specific reason.........let alone a warning....I thought it really sucked. And then it happened to me just as I returned from a trip out of town.

One day you try to get to your blog and discover it's gone. Then you realize ANYTHING you had through google is ALSO gone: access to email, any files in Google Drive, etc. When you ask Google what the issue is...through another account since your current one is unusable, they just tell you that you are in violation of their rules, but won't tell you where, when, or which one. After blogging since 2015, that could mean any post, image, etc. from then until now could be the culprit and you are left with wondering just what you did that was so bad. They give no prior warning either, like saying "your blog is currently on suspension until you remove x-y-z which violates our terms of service". Nope. Nothing. Just blog extinction and no recourse.

Be glad that you are able to exit blogging on your stated terms. I had intended to do the same, since I too was tired of it all. Google did kind of do me a favor by forcing an issue I was dawdling over, but like you, I would still have preferred to post a goodbye message and I would certainly have left access to the blog itself even if I was no longer contributing. As it is anyone who had my old email can't even contact me to ask what happened.

Anyway, good luck with your future plans.

What a shock this is.

I'll be so sorry to see you go, but I can understand your reasons.

Good luck for the future.
