Denise had been in the headmistress' office once before for bad behaviour. That time Miss Creasy had given her a very thorough telling off and she'd left the office with her eyes beginning to water. This time she had felt better prepared. Missing homework twice in the same week she'd been told to report to Miss Creasy at morning break so she had mentally prepared herself for another telling off and thought she would cope better. However she'd been completely thrown the moment she walked in to see two canes and a paddle laid out on the desktop. Before she could take in what that meant, Miss Creasy had ordered her to stand to attention and put her hands on her head. Again, Denise could feel her eyes watering as the strict telling off began, but her eyes couldn't be distracted from the three punishment implements laid out on the desk. She had to assume that they were there because the headmistress was pondering which one to use on Denise's bottom - something she had never experienced before because it was reserved for only really naughty girls, but which folk-lore around the school suggested was a rather dreadful experience best avoided. She couldn't help wishing she'd chosen to wear trousers or a longer skirt and a rather more substantial pair of knickers.

Yes, this naughty teen-age school girl will feel this dreaded corporal punishment implement called the cane on her naked rear end. And the headmaster with great pleasure will wield it's pain.

The adjustment of clothes for a smacked bottom does depend on what we naughty girls are wearing, James. Obvious yes. Practical yes (pray, I raised my two wonderful daughters ...strictly !) But also existential, already. It gets you thinking.
Case in point, and a brief aside: recently my granddaughters were misbehaving at night, instead of going to sleep. Mom was tired & after giving them usual attention, treats, fun, kindness etc....simply wanted some peace n quiet....don't y'all James. In fairness, she gave several warnings but they gotten no heed ! The bad antics continued sadly. Mom suddenly was real mad & went to the cupboard to fetch the lil' whippy cane.
I followed upstairs but remained silent - so two young girls were told to stand with their hands on their hands by the bed. Mom was scolding & very cross. She then suddenly lent forward & one by one, took hold of the waistbands of their soft, pink pajama bottoms & pulled them down to their knees. Protests were quickly silenced. Mom continued the scolding with frustration, & then after a fashion, two girls turned around & bent over the bed, presenting two chubby, bare ,white botties for a darn good whooping ! As an observer & grand good lady (I'm 66) of the moms & the young girls....I totally approve, James. "A stinging bottom right now will stop them getting into trouble when they gotten older" (mom said that exact quote to me umpteen times as a child) After all, I raised their moms - my own two daughters - the same way, already ! Oh my!
Sore stripey botties, screams, tears n wailing galore, naturally. Yet CP (on bare bottoms) is just normal & necessary in our family. It always has been. But most tannings with the rattan cane are in the living room at day - ie panties down & skirts up....or dresses up & panties down ha-ha! Oh my! The pajamas at bedtime added a different process. It is all contextual, James.
As a lil' girl in the Atlanta summers in the 1960s, I felt vulnerable in flimsy, pretty dresses & my trad 1950s white, cotton panties..... it took only a second for mom to bare my poor botty for the cane, or my sister's botty. I was very aware of exposure. In winter, I felt more secure in my overalls (dungarees) but this was totally false....they too would be pulled down with my knicks. All canings were on our bare buttocks regardless of what we were wearing. Indeed, I remember having just my bikini bottoms pulled down for the rod (having been pulled in from the paddling pool in the garden) .....a quick, rapido bare, white, fairy-soft botty reveal for punishment if ever there was for sure, James !!!
This photo reminds me of the juxtaposition of canings in Roue & Janus for daughters at both school & home, in the UK in the 1950s- 80s. Oh my!
At home it should be a bare bottom caning in my view (and it was for most girls), but at school it should be over clothes (knickers in fact) for moral & legal reasons. The constant flux, in Janus & roue, between reality & fantasy was compelling, especially in the "readers' letters. I still love the "readers letters" of the mid to late 1970s.
In our suburban church in Georgia today, girls get the paddle over clothes in school. At home, panties are usually pulled down. I know the Church moms well and I approve of that stern, Ol' fashioned punishment. And for many years I have told moms where to purchased the quality canes for their daughters bare backsides ! Well, naturally, it's the same place the cane for daughters & now my granddaughters gotten purchased !!
