Well, yes, James, in terms of summer flags, naughty girls should have the Union Jack etched & ridged across their bare bottoms with the cane at home from mom or pop (no naughty steps needed in my book!) And dare I mention Stars n Stripes for y'all American Brats ha-ha!
But what of summer spankings and cool blue water.....at the swimming pools and the beaches. Oh my!
Why, growing up in the happiest family (if very traditional & strict as was normal) in sultry Georgia SA in the 1960s & 70s I quickly learned that Atlanta was "swimming pool central". And it was also "spanking central". Oh my!
ha-ha!! Yup! Church moms would concur James.
Shark attacks loomed scary after the truly awesome film, Jaws, in 1975 (Oh my! Fifty years' ago, James) but it was all perception rather than reality, of course. What was clear and present reality however, on the Georgia & South Carolina beaches was the prospect of a naughty girl having her swimsuit pulled down for a good smacked bottom on sensitive bare skin from mom. Yes, definitely a reality and a hazard for young girls. It was quite the theatre for y'all, James. Albeit not for my sister & me surprisingly.
As a young girl I was beyond mesmerized by the wonderful, vivacious but Oh so strict African American moms. Oh my! they would pull down their daughters' swimsuits at the slightest bad behaviour for a good bare botty skelping. For sure, those super-hero moms were twice as strict, which intrigued me no end. Indeed I recently saw data & research that showed the strict antics and corporal punishment of African American moms with their daughters (from the 1950s to present day). This indeed aligns with my own experience &observations in Georgia over 60 years (I am age 66).
Oh my! Interesting James, I do find that "modern data" on spanking (both today & in yore) simply confirms the experiences that I and y'all had. Our own intuition, memories and real life spankings are accurately extrapolated to reflect the actual results (ie data) of spanking research. No surprise eh ? Georgia is indeed "spanking central". This is no discrepancy between my own spanking experiences (sine the early 1960s) and the modern day data capture & research.
Through all my besties, Church community, work at the big Corp, sports activities, raising my own daughters (1980s/90s) & general keenly observing
spanking entities, I would say that I am an absolute expert on the knowledge of "spanking within the African American communities". This subject, so vital in Georgia & America in general, is a lesser known discipline (pun intended) in the literature & spanking media. Since childhood, it has fascinated me. And I am referring to my own childhood & recent experience more frequently now in this area.
So yes, y'all naughty girls gotten their pudgy, soft, white buttocks bared & rapidly reddened at the swimming pool & beach a lot, as per normal, but our mother did not bare our bottoms or spank us in public. So sister & I escaped ? Well not exactly. We were merely red botties walking, James, as I phrase it .....!! Mom was conservative in this regard and occasionally smacked the back of our our thighs/legs, but only briefly.
However, Oh my! Just desserts were merely delayed. If we had been naughty at the pool, we gotten our dresses hoisted or canvas shorts n knicks (& /or swimsuit bottoms) pulled down for the dreaded cane on our chubby, bare backsides, over the armchair, once we gotten home. Yes Sir! That was simply the normal punishment for us growing up in the 60s/70s ( I can confirm that naughty steps did not exist). It was harsh, but harmless. Yes, parents who care, cane on the bare. I approve. And I applied this very strictly to my own daughters when they were bad for sure, as they ruefully still remind me. My mom taught me never to spare the rod !
