I was reading a piece in the newspaper (The Guardian, 16th July 2007) written by a lady called Julie Bindel who was writing about someone she had known at school and who was recently convicted of a brutal murder. Now it's an interesting piece in it's own right but the bit that grabbed me was when Julie is talking about how both of them were often getting into trouble at school.
"Often, Ashdown and I would find ourselves outside the head teacher's office to be punished for our various antics. I remember one particular day when Ashdown came out of the office having been caned on his bottom. I was next. "They don't cane lasses on the backside," he advised "so go and put plenty of soap on your hands - it hurts less." It was sound advice, coming from someone who knew."
The idea that having soap on your hands would make a caning hurt less seems rather far-fetched to me but I've heard of similar ideas in the past, all of which seemed to me to be doomed to failure. However, perhaps there's something else to it. After all, part of the experience of being summoned to the head teacher's office and made to hold your hand out to be caned is about a very painful experience that you may not want to repeat. But the other part is about the establishment and it's authority and the fact it is able to make you do something to it's instructions. The rebellious schoolboy or schoolgirl who's been doing things the school disapproves of is forced into a position of acquiescing to their control.
And perhaps that's where the soap thing comes in. I don't believe it lessens the pain, but it may make you feel better - it's like saying you've not done exactly what they've ordered you to do - you're still rebelling and they don't even realise it.

Hope you are well. You mentioned your fiction writing. I have to say, your piece, 'Diane at School,' is one of the best M/F school caning stories I have ever read. I wish I could see more of your material. I found the story on Soc.Sexuality.Spanking about three years ago and I'm still extracting the juice from the lemon:taking apart every detail!
It is a masterpiece, full of brilliant characterision, especially that of the headmaster, a first class plot and a well constructed build up to the main event, and such a powerful descriptive.
How about writing a 'Diane at School' part two? Ever considered it? For example, it could be Diane Boardman is now in her sixth form, which she would have joined the following year afer her caning in the fifth. Her 'A levels, that determine whether she achives her university place, are looming. Surely she would not dare manipulate circumtances again to get another headmaster's caning.....or would she?? Or could it be that the headmaster simply cannot resist another chance to see another pair of Diane's tiny panties before she finishes her sixth form, and thus he might well create a situation where a caning is possible. Or is he too darn professional to even dare think of that? But the chance for the headmaster to see the best bottom in the entire school as she reaches for her toes could be irresistable!! He would have to be careful. Caning a sixth former?!!! Surely that is unheard of at Diane's school. And even so, would he dare cane a sixth form girl on her bottom?!!!He would be thinking about using the cane on her hand, maybe, but...this is Diane Boardman with best bottom in the school!! Or is it more a case that Diane had transgressed so badly that suspension or even expulsion would be the only alternative? Unlikely, however, that a girl such as Diane Boardman, a girl from a good home, self motivated, popular, with an impeccable school record, both academically and disciplinary, not to mention being a top quality middle distance runner, would allow herself to get into serious trouble during her sixth form. But who knows? This is the beauty of creative writing!!!

Let us talk about part one for a moment. During the weekend, after her caning, she was due to compete at the schools inter-counties at 1500 and 800m. I was wondering, assuming she still had cane marks on her bottom, did she decide compete or did she pull out? Let's remember, she was very much looking forward to competing.
When you say girls wore tights generally, were these black tights. or nomal tan tights. The other two girl wore tights for their canings, coulkd the head see their panties or were thet hidden by the tights.
Wwere girls' skirts pretty short and loose fitting at Diane's school?
What was the mood like when Diane and the headmaser eventually came face to face with the headmaster.
Did Diane's friend ever realise what happeened here? It was her who really took the exam paper, yet thge head announced somedody had come forwad and wwere caned. Did she supect Diane. Surely questioms must have been asked as to why Diane went home early that day, and if she had have withdrawn from the inter-schools at the weekend.............?
