Guide to this blog

The Blogroll is now in three parts. The main part is arranged according to the date the blog was last updated with the most recent first. Many blogs use the BDSMLR platform which does not include date information; they are in a separate Blogroll arranged alphabetically but I check from time to time and remove any that have been permanently closed. The final part is a list of interesting Twitter feeds - again in alphabetical order.

Perhaps I had it wrong all along...

When I was six years old I smacked a five year old girl on the bottom and rather enjoyed it. That seemed very odd.

Over the next few years, my fascination with corporal punishment grew and grew. I finally discovered that I was not alone. Reading Ian Gibson's book "The English Vice" in my local library I found references to magazines called Roue and Janus and one day I saw one of these for sale and bought it. But I was obviously still in a very small minority.

Then came the early days of the Internet and suddenly there were quite a lot of us out there exchanging thoughts on USENET, but obviously still a minority. Then the web grew up and there were lots of websites to explore and it seemed that maybe there were more of us than I had ever thought, and many of 'us' seemed quite normal in other respects.

Then the web began to provide opportunities for people to post their photographs and videos, and every day you can find new examples of 'ordinary' people obviously enjoying spanking, or being spanked or just watching someone else get spanked.

And I've begun to wonder - perhaps I've had it wrong all along. Perhaps it's the non-spankos who are the small minority - okay, so there might be a lot who aren't prepared to admit it yet, but just maybe one day it will become the accepted norm... If you go back a while, it wasn't really the 'done thing' to say you enjoyed sex, and now most people would say they do (not all, and a huge accolade to anyone with the guts to say otherwise). It would be interesting if, in say another ten years, it would be unusual to find someone who would say they didn't enjoy spanking in some form or other.

I need a cane!

I really would like to have a proper cane for my collection - or better still a few of them in different sizes and weights. After all, we can all easily now get educated via the internet about the differences between kooboo canes, dragon canes, rattan and so on. There are plenty of adult websites offering "Junior", "Senior" and "Reformatory" models. There's also plenty of shops you can go to purchase one on the spot. There's even modern high-tech versions offered in lexan, fibreglass or carbon fibre. I'm sure they are very effective at delivering a good sharp sting. The trouble is, I don't feel attracted to buying any of them because they're just too perfect - they don't look like the real thing.I have seen a real school cane during my schooldays and the ones widely on sale today just don't excite me like a 'real' one would. Occasionally there are ones offered for sale on auction sites that do claim to be ones that were actually once used in schools and there is something just different about them. It's not just the history either. Take a look at these:-

Now I'm not naive enough to think that everything auctioned on the internet as genuine really is, but there's something about these that looks different from the almost mass produced ones generally offered for sale. And, let's face it, the 'history' aspect - the thought they have probably been used across the hands or backside of some erring pupil in the past does add something. That's never more true than in this final, and rather unusual, example I found a while ago on an auction site along with a story about it's previous use.

[This cane] belonged to a female pal who went to a girls school in Birmingham in the early 1960s. The cane itself was once a standard rattan crooked handle style of 36", and belonged to the deputy headmistress until one day my friend decided to hide it and put it in a trough outside the school which contained water and, unbeknown to her, a green algae. Unfortunately it was reported to the deputy and found. The algae overnight had imparted a green dye into the cane and it was split about halfway down. The deputy, being very resourseful had acquired a handle from an old woodworking tool and decided upon a bit of DIY. The next day my friend was summoned and received six of the best (which in days gone by was a common occurance) but the cane being of much shorter length was easier to control. What made it more interesting the first time it was used it left green marks on my friends skirt, which she couldn't remove. When her mother saw what had happened, she actually wrote a letter to the deputy thanking her for punishing her daughter (my oh my, how things have changed). The cane is 20"inches long and the handle 8". The green is still very much visible (which I think should stay), there is a nice patination on the cane. This is an interesting relic from school history. Strangely enough there was no animosity between my friend and the teacher who, when she retired, gave it to her as a memento.

A long time ago (in WWW terms)

Many, many years ago, before the internet was full of exciting things like blogs, and videos, and even many pictures, spankos had discovered it as a way of sharing experiences and stories. USENET groups like alt.sex.spanking were the major way of accessing these. And then, like the first land animals coming out of a primeval swamp, websites began to appear. At first these were not much more than slightly more refined ways of seeing what was going on in USENET. And somewhere in this stage emerged a collection of stories on Laura's Spanking Corner created by Laura Werner.

It is years since it was updated but it's still there, and guess what? Yours truly was around then writing some of those USENET stories and some of them found their way to this little corner of the site. It's over eleven years ago now but I'm still quite proud of some of these stories.

I'm a bit less reticent about people contacting me these days, but I still find this era quite fascinating as a step to getting the scene on the web in the way it is today. What would today's scene be like without those first early sites, and how many of the numerous authors on Laura's site are still around today, perhaps under other names?

Wandering around MySpace

For reasons that I won't go into, I currently find myself with quite a bit of time to wander rather aimlessly around the internet. I'm easily distracted on MySpace - I search for some term that often doesn't give me anything very useful, then see a nice picture on MyFriends and click there, find that disappointing but then spot another... Somehow, don't ask me why, I found myself on a page belonging to a lady who appears to be semi-professionally into wrestling and kick-boxing with members of either sex.

This shot is just a million miles from her other photographs (which weren't exactly my scene) as someone is giveng her a swat on the butt - what I really liked was the expression of the onlooker behind her.

Spankarama

Thanks to Spanking Blog for unearthing this photograph that brings back some uncomfortable memories. I had seen "Spankarama" before but had been with other people and had to not look too interested. However in my early twenties I found myself in London alone and spotted it again. I walked past the entrance several times before feeling able to dive through the doorway and start down the stairs. I froze - at the bottom of the stairs were a bunch of workmen demolishing walls and rebuilding the place. By a stroke of unfortunate timing I'd finally got the opportunity to visit just as it been closed down but before the front display had been removed.

Reacting to others in trouble

I'm fascinated by the reaction of other people when witnessing someone being punished. I went to school in the dark ages leading up to the abolition of corporal punishment in the UK - in fact I was about three years away from leaving school when my school decided on abolition although this was a number of years before it became a legal requirement. For serious offences, the guilty parties would be sent off to the headmaster or deputy headmaster to be dealt with, but I also witnessed plenty of spontaneous "classroom" punishments, usually with a slipper (plimsoll), stick, ruler or something else that came to hand (I should explain at this point that I'm talking about an all-boys school).

The person on the receiving end was expected to look serious but stoical but everyone else seemed to quite enjoy the spectacle - I can remember one lad being called to the front for misbehaving and the teacher asking if anyone could lend him a plimsoll - not only was there almost a stampede of offers but the one who got there first told me afterwards he'd got new trainers (it was early days of those and they had a rather rigid polyurethane type of sole then) so it would have really stung a lot more than usual.

In the sort of things we see on film, whether mainstream or scene, there rarely seems to be this sort of perverse pleasure (there are one or two exceptions in Xerotics productions) - on the contrary there seems to be either fear ("might this happen to me?") or sympathy ("it could have been me").

Has anyone else any experiences to share here? I can understand that pleasure may not be to the forefront of someone's thinking if they know they're probably going to be next but in mainstream films where corporal punishment is being dished out at school we see much more wincing than surreptitious grinning.

Interesting pictures

For some time now, people on blogs like this have been hunting out pictures of interest on the standard websites for sharing photographs by searching for things like birthday spankings. I love those pictures just because they're ordinary people who, in most cases, probably wouldn't regard themselves as having a spanking kink. The three pictures below come from a source I'm just starting to explore and haven't seen used elsewhere as yet - university students' unions. This has an extra buzz for me as I work in a university so I wonder if any of my students get up to this sort of thing! Generally speaking you go to the university homepage - from there find a section concerned with students and there's usually a link to a website for the Students Union (in some cases 'Guild'). Most commonly then you find a section called Entertainment (sometimes 'Ents') and within that galleries.

The first three images are taken from UK University Students' Union websites for School Disco themed events which seem a useful source of interesting shots.

The other one I've found worth looking out for are "Go Commando" nights. The obvious intention is to encourage students to turn up with no pants on (as evidenced by widespread use of a poster with a female tennis player showing her bare bum) and there seem to be incentives (free entrance or free drinks) for participants to prove they have complied - sometimes in front of cameras. There seems a trend (disappointingly) for people to "comply" with the theme by wearing army uniforms, but there seem to still be enough prepared to stick to the original idea and be photographed showing their faces as well. You might notice a bit of cheating going on - I'm pretty sure that the girl featured in the last three pictures (see that last shot) and the one on the right in the fourth picture have got knickers on, but what the hell - they're giving us a pretty nice view anyway!
